“I Was Unconscious the Whole Day in My Flat” – Actress Amara Chaudhry Shares a Terrifying Experience of Living Alone in Karachi

Pakistani actress Amara Chaudhry has opened up about a deeply personal and frightening experience of living alone in Karachi, shedding light on the emotional and physical challenges faced by individuals, especially women, who relocate for work or study away from their families.

Living Alone Isn’t Easy, Says Amara

Speaking on a private television talk show recently, Amara Chaudhry shared her thoughts about the growing number of people, both young men and women, living alone in Karachi. She discussed how while many migrate to the city for career opportunities or education, the experience of solitude can be emotionally taxing.

“A lot of people come to Karachi for work or education, but living alone is not as easy as it may seem,” she said. “There are moments when you deeply miss your loved ones, and it can become unbearable.”

Amara, who hails from Lahore, revealed that her own family still resides there, but due to professional commitments, she is based in Karachi. The loneliness often strikes hardest after returning from shoots, especially when dealing with illness or mental exhaustion.

The Scary Incident During COVID-19

Recalling a traumatic incident from two years ago, Amara narrated how she tested positive for COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic. She was alone in her Karachi apartment at the time, working on a project.

“After contracting COVID, I started feeling very unwell. The very next day, I lost consciousness and remained unconscious in my flat for an entire day,” she said.

To make matters worse, no one was aware of her condition. Her phone remained unanswered, causing great anxiety for her family in Lahore. Concerned by her silence, her family contacted her landlord to check on her.

“My family reached out to the landlord, asking him to find out if I was okay. He eventually sent someone to knock on my door. When I heard the knock, I finally regained consciousness,” Amara explained.

A Wake-Up Call for Urban Isolation

Amara revealed that once she regained consciousness and checked her phone, she was shocked to find dozens of missed calls from her family. In fact, they were so alarmed that they had already booked tickets to Karachi to come see her.

“The landlord also told me that he had assumed I had gone back to Lahore, which is why he didn’t check earlier. It was only at my family’s insistence that someone came to check,” she added.

This harrowing experience left a lasting impact on Amara and highlighted the emotional vulnerability and safety concerns of those living away from home without a support system.

A Call for Empathy and Awareness

Amara Chaudhry’s story serves as a powerful reminder of how emotional isolation, especially during health crises, can have serious consequences. While independence and self-reliance are often seen as virtues, her experience exposes the darker side of solitude in big cities like Karachi.

Social media users and fans have praised Amara for bravely sharing her story, with many urging society to be more empathetic toward individuals living alone, especially women in urban areas.
