Islamabad: Chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute, Mushahid Hussain Syed, has stated that an agreement between Iran and the United States could be signed after Eid, suggesting that negotiations between the two sides are nearing completion.

Speaking on a television program, he said that the Iran–US agreement is “almost finalized” and expected to be formally signed after Eid.

He did not provide detailed specifics of the proposed deal but indicated that diplomatic discussions between Tehran and Washington have made significant progress.

During the same discussion, Mushahid Hussain also commented on the Abraham Accords, calling them “unacceptable” and stating that such arrangements are not feasible for Pakistan and several other countries in their current form.

He reiterated that Pakistan’s position on regional diplomacy remains consistent, particularly regarding issues related to Palestine and broader Middle Eastern geopolitics.

Former Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry also participated in the discussion, emphasizing that Pakistan and other regional states cannot abandon the Palestinian cause.

He said that there is no possibility of Pakistan accepting the Abraham Accords, given its longstanding policy of supporting Palestinian rights and advocating for a just resolution of the conflict.

The Abraham Accords, signed in 2020 between Israel and several Arab countries, remain controversial across much of the Muslim world due to the unresolved Israeli–Palestinian issue.

Analysts note that Mushahid Hussain’s remarks reflect ongoing speculation about possible backchannel diplomacy in the Middle East, though no official confirmation has been issued by Iran or the United States regarding any finalized agreement or signing timeline.
