Karachi: The Government of Sindh has introduced a major administrative reform in the province’s healthcare system by transferring the management of all government dispensaries to a government-funded non-governmental organization (NGO).

Under the new arrangement, the Sindh Health Department has formally issued directives to all District Health Officers (DHOs) across the province, informing them of the revised administrative structure.

According to an official notification issued by the department, the designated organization will now be responsible for the day-to-day management, operational affairs, and other administrative functions of government dispensaries throughout Sindh.

The move marks a significant shift in the province’s primary healthcare administration, with the external organization assuming responsibility for the routine operation and oversight of these health facilities.

The notification further states that, following the implementation of the new system, the role of District Health Officers will be largely confined to overseeing polio eradication campaigns and routine immunization programs.

The Sindh government has not yet provided additional details regarding the scope of the organization’s responsibilities, implementation timeline, or how the new management model will affect healthcare staff and services.

The decision represents one of the most notable administrative changes in Sindh’s public healthcare sector and is expected to reshape the management of government-run dispensaries across the province.
