Karachi: Governor Sindh Syed Nihal Ahmed Hashmi has described the tenure of former Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan as a “golden era” in the province’s history, praising his administrative abilities, public service, and development-oriented vision.

Speaking during a meeting with a high-level delegation of Meri Pehchan Pakistan (MPP) at the Governor House in Karachi, Governor Hashmi said that his remarks were not merely because the MPP leadership had come to meet him, but because the Governor House staff and people from various walks of life still acknowledged Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan’s leadership and contributions. He also extended special greetings and appreciation to the former governor.

The MPP delegation included Advisory Council member Major (Retd.) Azhar Fakhruddin, Professor Umar Farooq, Central Committee In-charge Nihal Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary Information Rizwan Ahmed Fikri, senior leader Muhammad Panah Penhyar, Maqsood Qureshi, Saif Yar Khan, and other members of the Advisory Council, Central Committee, and Coordination Committee.

Governor Hashmi emphasized that empowering young people through education, technical skills, employment opportunities, and modern technology remains one of the federal government’s top priorities. He said the government is expanding technical and vocational education institutions under the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to equip youth with market-relevant skills and improve employment prospects.

During the meeting, senior MPP leader Muhammad Panah Penhyar urged the immediate operationalization of the nearly completed Kohsar Medical College in Hyderabad, which he said is 95 percent complete. He also called on the federal government to activate the almost completed 36-B Landhi Medical College in Karachi, saying the project would significantly improve healthcare services for the public.

Penhyar also highlighted several civic and development issues, including the Hyderabad Trauma Center, non-functional water filtration plants, the deteriorating condition of Civil Hospital Hyderabad, the need for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center and an IBA campus in Hyderabad, prolonged electricity load shedding by HESCO, development of Rani Bagh, and concerns related to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).

Professor Umar Farooq discussed challenges facing Dow University Hospital and the healthcare sector, while Nihal Ahmed Siddiqui presented proposals regarding youth issues in Karachi, federal development funds, employment opportunities, and urban development projects. Saif Yar Khan highlighted labor rights, workers’ welfare, and rising university tuition fees.

Governor Hashmi assured the delegation that issues related to the federal government would be conveyed to the relevant authorities for necessary action, while matters concerning the provincial government would be forwarded to the Sindh government through formal recommendations and memorandums.

He stressed the need to free Sindh from hatred, prejudice, and ethnic divisions, saying the province should become a symbol of peace, development, tolerance, and harmony. He added that all stakeholders must work together to ensure equal opportunities, quality education, employment, and sustainable development for the youth.

The Governor also congratulated Dr. Mohsin Yar Khan, son of Saif Yar Khan, for achieving international academic recognition, describing talented young people as Pakistan’s valuable asset. He appreciated the positive vision, national unity, and public service efforts of Meri Pehchan Pakistan (MPP) and encouraged the organization to continue its work.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the MPP delegation thanked the Governor and agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to address public issues in Sindh, Karachi, and Hyderabad.
