Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought proposals for the establishment of modern Green Economic Zones in the province.

The Punjab CM expressed these views while talking with a delegation of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation headed by Chairman Syed Qamar Raza in Lahore on Monday.

During the meeting, a proposal was submitted for the establishment of a Green Economic Zone with the collaboration of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and Green Energy Group.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Maram Nawaz announced a special concessionary package for the local and international investors.

After the establishment of the Green Economic Zone, more than 18,000 people will get employment opportunities, while Rs5.6 billion will be earned through this project.

Solar, wind, hydro, ground-source energy, battery storage, and HVO backup systems will be established in the Green Economic Zone.

Exports of eco-friendly products are projected to boost the country’s GDP by up to 1.5% and provide a significant stimulus to the regional economy.

Modern clean energy infrastructure will enable a substantial reduction in carbon emissions and the achievement of net-zero targets.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the Punjab government will extend full support for the promotion of foreign investment. She said that the Punjab government will provide several facilities to the investors, such as One Window Operation and issuance of a No-Objection Certificate (NoC) immediately.

She further said that the Punjab government will provide a security- and bureaucratic hurdles-free environment to foreign investors.
