Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin held a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad as he completed his diplomatic tenure in Pakistan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present during the meeting.

Prime Minister Shehbaz appreciated Ambassador Kistafin’s contribution toward strengthening the longstanding friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan during his tenure.

The prime minister particularly acknowledged the ambassador’s role in facilitating the successful visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan in February 2026, which helped elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his best wishes to President Tokayev and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its multifaceted partnership with Kazakhstan.

He said Pakistan would continue working with Kazakhstan to enhance regional connectivity, expand trade links and strengthen cooperation in areas including energy, education and people-to-people contacts.

Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin thanked the prime minister for his cooperation and support during his diplomatic tenure. He expressed confidence that relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan would continue to make progress under the strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also wished the outgoing ambassador success in his future responsibilities.
