The recent spell of heavy rains in Karachi once again paralyzed the city’s normal rhythm of life, leaving citizens struggling with flooded streets, blocked drains, waterlogged neighborhoods, and disrupted transportation. In moments like these, people look towards their elected representatives for both hope and practical assistance. In Manghopir Town, that hope came in the form of their Chairman, Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi, who not only assured citizens of relief but also stood shoulder to shoulder with them in the most difficult hours.

Unlike many who choose to operate from behind closed doors in times of crisis, Chairman Brohi chose to be among the people — day and night — taking visible and practical steps to mitigate their difficulties. He was seen walking through waterlogged streets, supervising municipal staff engaged in drainage operations, and ensuring that immediate instructions were delivered on the ground. His round-the-clock presence reassured the people that their challenges were not being treated as distant matters for discussion, but were being actively addressed with urgent measures.

Even last night, as most of the city rested, Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi remained among the public until the call for Fajr prayers, personally reviewing drainage operations and making sure that every blockage was removed in real-time. During this effort, he was accompanied by Vice Chairman Rana Muhammad Arif, District West President Abid Hussain Satti, Information Secretary Ali Akbar Kachhelo, Municipal Commissioner Agha Khaleeq, and other officials of Manghopir Town, all of whom demonstrated commitment in the field. Citizens observing this spirit of service remarked with gratitude that this was the first time they had witnessed a Chairman who stood by them without rest, day and night, throughout such testing circumstances.

Today, the spirit of solidarity extended further when Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui, paid a special visit to Manghopir Town to review the ongoing situation. During his visit, Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi warmly acknowledged the Mayor’s constant support and leadership. Speaking on the occasion, he said:

“Barrister Murtaza Wahab has always served while being present among the people. This is the true identity of a committed Jiyala and a genuine representative of the Pakistan Peoples Party. At every step, he has provided me with support, resources, and encouragement. His cooperation has never wavered, and for this, I remain deeply grateful.”

The Mayor of Karachi reciprocated with words of high praise for the Chairman’s relentless service, stating:

“I am proud that Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi is always present among the people. His untiring spirit is a shining example of true public service and a guiding light for all future representatives. He embodies the values that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood for — service to the people without pause.”

Mayor Wahab also emphasized that the top leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party — Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Aseefa Faryal Talpur — has strictly directed that every possible step must be taken to free the citizens of Karachi from difficulties. All drains and roads must be cleared immediately, and no negligence or delay in drainage operations will be tolerated.

Following the visit, the Mayor of Karachi and the Chairman of Manghopir Town jointly toured several union councils, directly inspecting the ongoing work of drain cleaning and water clearance. They firmly instructed staff members that negligence would not be acceptable under any circumstances.

Later in the day, Member of National Assembly Shahida Rahmani joined Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi in Gulshan-e-Maymar to review the condition of rain-affected areas. Together, they walked among residents, inspected drainage work in progress, listened carefully to citizens’ problems, and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned departments. MNA Shahida Rahmani assured residents that all possible resources from both federal and provincial governments would be mobilized to bring relief, promising that no citizen would be left in distress. She further said:

“The example of selfless service set by Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi is truly worthy of imitation. His sincerity and tireless work have earned the heartfelt prayers and support of the people.”

Even after the official visits concluded, Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi did not rest. He continued late into the night, monitoring drainage operations across multiple neighborhoods, and once again remained in the field until the early hours of Fajr. His personal supervision has ensured that every available resource is being put to use effectively.

Speaking to citizens, Chairman Brohi reaffirmed his philosophy of politics and leadership:

“The only purpose of my politics is public service. As long as even a single citizen of Manghopir is in difficulty, I cannot find peace. Serving the people is my mission, and I will remain steadfast in this mission until my last breath.”
