PM Assigns Federal Ministers to Hold Talks with AJK Joint Awami Action Committee

The federal government has taken a key step to address the upcoming protest announced by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on September 29.

According to an official notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed two senior federal ministers — Amir Muqam, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs — to travel to Muzaffarabad. The two ministers will engage directly with negotiation committees representing the JAAC.

The notification further states that the AJK government has also been instructed to fully cooperate in facilitating the dialogue process.

It is important to note that the Joint Awami Action Committee has already announced its plan to hold a protest on September 29, prompting the federal government’s decision to intervene and open talks in an effort to defuse tensions.
