Sukkur Police has finalized a security plan for the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura in light of potential threats.
All routes, including the main procession paths, will be blocked using barbed wire and barricades.
All small and large streets connected to the processions will be completely sealed off.
A single entry and exit point will be designated for the mourning processions, and participants will be thoroughly searched at three separate checking points before being allowed entry.
On Youm-e-Ashura,
- 2,450 police personnel,
- 40 female officers,
- Rangers personnel, and
- 3 companies of the army
will remain on standby.
Three major processions will take place on Youm-e-Ashura:
- The most sensitive procession will emerge from the Central Imambargah Sukkur, pass through various streets and areas of the city, and return to the same Imambargah.
- The second major and highly sensitive procession will begin from Karbalah Maidan in Rohri and conclude at Shuhada Graveyard.
- The third major procession will emerge from Imambargah Qasr-e-Fatima in Pano Aqil, pass through different parts of the city and streets, and end at Maidan-e-Iraq.
In total, 43 small and large processions and 80 majalis (gatherings) will be held across the district on Youm-e-Ashura.
Security has been made extremely strict for the occasion.
The processions will be monitored using surveillance cameras and drone cameras.
Control rooms have been established at local sites for effective monitoring.
Highly trained snipers from Rangers and Police will be deployed on high-rise buildings along the routes of the processions.
Plainclothes intelligence officers will be present within the processions, forming a protective ring to carry out their security duties.
