A warm and heartfelt farewell reception was organized in Khairpur to honour the services of the outgoing Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hassan Sardar Niazi. The event, hosted by President of Anjuman-e-Tajiran (Registered) Khairpur, Lala Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, became a gathering of local business leaders, journalists, civil society representatives, and officials who came together to recognize the contributions of the two officers during their tenure in the district.

The reception, held under a gracious atmosphere of appreciation, reflected the deep respect both officers earned through their commitment to public service. Lala Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh welcomed the guests and paid tribute to the outgoing DC and SSP, acknowledging their proactive approach to administrative matters, development issues, and law-and-order management. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests and lauded the officers for maintaining close coordination with traders and citizens during their tenure.

A large number of participants including Press Club Khairpur’s Patron Khan Muhammad Khan, President Ghulam Qadir Soomro, General Secretary Zaheer Abbas Khaskheli, President of Union of Journalists Khairpur Syed Ubaid Shah Jelani, District Accounts Officer Sajjad Sheikh, senior leader of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Haji Bashir Ahmed Sheikh, President of Sarafa Bazaar Haji Altaf Memon, Government Contractors Union leader Javed Sheikh, and Petrol Pump Union representative Faheem Sheikh attended the ceremony. Journalists Shahid Nawaz Sial, Nasrullah Khero, Shahnawaz Kalhoro, and many respected figures from various walks of life were also present.

During his farewell address, Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo expressed deep affection for his hometown. “I was born in Khairpur,” he stated, “and whatever services I have rendered here will always remain close to my heart.” He emphasized that a good officer is known by his work, and when the citizens are aware and cooperative, the officer’s job becomes even more meaningful. Fayaz Rahoojo thanked the people of Khairpur, especially traders and media representatives, for extending their support, which enabled the district administration to carry out development and administrative tasks effectively.

SSP Khairpur Hassan Sardar Niazi, in his speech, highlighted the collective efforts undertaken during his tenure to maintain peace and stability in the district. “We worked tirelessly to uphold law and order,” he said, praising the people of Khairpur as affectionate and welcoming. He noted that transfers are a routine part of government service, but the posting in Khairpur had been one of the most enriching experiences of his career. “There was much to learn here,” SSP Niazi said, adding that he would continue serving the Sindh Police with dedication wherever posted in the future.

The outgoing officers received a warm and emotional farewell from the participants, many of whom recalled incidents of the officers’ cooperation, timely interventions, and initiation of welfare-oriented steps. Speakers appreciated the behaviour and leadership qualities of DC Rahoojo and SSP Niazi, describing them as empathetic, hardworking, and committed to the public interest.

As part of the ceremony, hundreds of traders, police officers, and local citizens presented traditional Sindhi cultural gifts — including Sindhi topi (cap) and ajrak — to both officers as tokens of love and respect. The exchange of these cultural symbols underscored the strong bond created between the officers and the community during their service period.

Traders’ representatives stated that both officers maintained an open-door policy and were always available to resolve business-related issues. They highlighted the DC’s role in streamlining administrative matters, improving coordination between government departments, and ensuring the timely delivery of public services. Similarly, the SSP was credited for implementing strategic security measures, reducing street crimes, and fostering a peaceful environment conducive to business activities.

Journalists also expressed appreciation for the transparency the officers upheld, noting that they always respected the media’s role and ensured timely sharing of information. Representatives of civil society added that their positive attitude helped bridge the gap between administration and the public.
