Karachi: Renowned Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir has responded to long-standing rumors that legendary Indian actress Rekha once sent him a love letter following the success of his iconic song “Hawa Hawa.”

During a recent interview, Hasan Jahangir was asked whether Rekha had written him a love letter after the tremendous popularity of Hawa Hawa. Smiling, he gave a light-hearted response, saying, “Love can happen at any age, but some things are better left as secrets.” He neither confirmed nor denied the claim.

The veteran singer also spoke warmly about the affection he received from audiences in India, saying he was always welcomed with love and never faced any difficulties during his visits.

Hasan Jahangir revealed that he has maintained friendships with several prominent Bollywood stars, including Madhuri Dixit, Govinda, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Mithun Chakraborty, adding that he remains in contact with them even today.

Reflecting on an important turning point in his career, the singer disclosed that he had received several offers to work as a film hero in India. However, he chose to decline seven major film offers and returned to Pakistan instead.

According to Hasan Jahangir, those projects featured leading actresses, including Neelam and Madhuri Dixit. He remarked that had he accepted those roles, the films might have gone on to become major commercial successes.

Hasan Jahangir’s remarks have once again sparked interest among fans about his popularity across the border during the peak of his music career, particularly after the massive success of Hawa Hawa, one of the most celebrated pop songs in South Asia.
