According to Indian media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has maintained a defiant stance, refusing to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI Secretary Debajit Saikia confirmed that a formal letter has been sent to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) demanding that the trophy be sent directly to India rather than being handed over in person. He warned that if the issue isn’t resolved, India will take the matter to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ACC, which oversees the Asia Cup, had proposed November 10 as the date for a ceremonial handover of the trophy. Pakistan, as the last Asia Cup champion, was expected to formally pass the trophy to India during this event. The ACC’s offer was meant to preserve tradition and promote goodwill, but India’s resistance has now turned the symbolic event into a matter of principle and prestige.

Cricket insiders say the situation highlights the deep-seated mistrust that continues to affect sporting relations between the two countries.
