Shahid Afridi Criticizes Shaheen Afridi’s Bowling in T20 World Cup

Former Shahid Afridi, ex-captain of the Pakistan national cricket team, has expressed frustration over the performance of his son-in-law, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, during the recent T20 World Cup.

Speaking on a television program, Afridi said, “Shaheen has been playing for so long, yet he still doesn’t know from where to bowl the final over. I’ve told him so many times.” He criticized repeated errors, noting that Shaheen bowls a “round-the-wicket” delivery to right-handers incorrectly, often missing the intended line and length.

Afridi added, “It’s incomprehensible that he keeps making the same mistake. When will our bowlers learn these basics?” He further remarked that many players neither want to learn nor take responsibility, assuming that only one or two individuals carry the burden during a match.

The former captain concluded, “We are far behind; our cricketing mindset is lagging compared to the rest of the world.”

Afridi’s comments underline the concern over fundamental bowling discipline and the need for Pakistani bowlers to adapt to modern T20 strategies.
