Peshawar (Thursday, July 17, 2025): A session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has been summoned for July 20. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has approved the summary for convening the provincial assembly session.

According to reports, the session has been called specifically for the swearing-in of members nominated on reserved seats. The session will be held at 9 AM on July 20.

A spokesperson from the Governor House confirmed that the purpose of the session is to administer the oath to nominated members on reserved seats. The Governor Secretariat had earlier directed the Chief Minister of KP to send the summary in light of the Supreme Court directives and a letter from the Election Commission.

It is worth noting that on July 15, the Election Commission accepted the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s petition regarding the reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ruling stated that a toss will decide the minority seat allocation between PML-N and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). As per the decision, PML-N and JUI-F each received 9 reserved seats, Pakistan Peoples Party received 5, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians and Awami National Party each gained one additional seat in the KP Assembly.
