Three Women Abducted in Sehwan Amid Dispute Over Love Marriage

Sehwan – In a disturbing incident linked to a dispute over a love marriage, three women were reportedly abducted from their home in the village of Jan Muhammad Bhatti, police said.

According to SSP Zafar Sadiq, the incident occurred when unidentified assailants forcibly entered a residence in the village and abducted the three women. The police have registered a case against 20 individuals under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and two suspects involved in the abduction have already been apprehended.

The police officer explained that the abduction appears to be connected to a long-standing feud between local communities. A few months ago, a young man had married a woman from a rival community, sparking tensions between the two families. In retaliation for the love marriage, members of the opposing group allegedly attacked the household and carried out the abduction.

“Law enforcement is conducting multiple raids to recover the abducted women,” SSP Sadiq said. “During these operations, two individuals were injured in an exchange of fire, and the police are pursuing all leads to ensure the safe return of the victims.”

Authorities have emphasized that the incident is being treated with utmost seriousness, given the abduction’s link to communal tensions and potential violence. Security forces are working to stabilize the area and prevent further escalation of hostilities.

The local community expressed shock over the incident, highlighting the risks faced by women in rural areas due to disputes over personal choices such as love marriages. Community elders called for a swift resolution and cooperation with law enforcement to ensure justice is served.

Police officials have appealed to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the abducted women or the suspects to come forward, assuring that strict legal action will be taken against the perpetrators.

“The safety and security of citizens, particularly women, is our top priority,” SSP Sadiq added. “We are coordinating with local authorities to recover the victims safely and maintain law and order in the area.”

The case has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by young couples in rural communities where traditional norms and family rivalries can lead to violent reprisals. Authorities stress the need for community mediation and legal recourse to prevent such incidents.

As the investigation continues, police have intensified patrols in Jan Muhammad Bhatti and surrounding areas, deploying additional personnel to deter any further attempts at violence or intimidation.

Local residents expressed hope that the authorities will successfully recover the abducted women and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law.

The ongoing probe highlights the complexities of social conflicts intertwined with personal relationships in certain rural regions, where disputes over love marriages can quickly escalate into criminal acts affecting multiple families.

Police have confirmed that they are using intelligence reports and eyewitness accounts to trace the movements of the abducted women and locate the suspects. Law enforcement has also coordinated with nearby districts to block escape routes and prevent the suspects from fleeing the area.

Authorities remain committed to bringing all involved to justice and have urged the public to remain calm while the operations continue.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of legal protection and community awareness in preventing violence related to personal and familial disputes. The police have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to restore normalcy and provide support to the affected families.
