Tehran: (Monday, June 23, 2025) The Israeli military has claimed to have conducted airstrikes on at least six airbases located in the eastern and western regions of Iran, destroying 15 aircraft. Meanwhile, the Iranian military has reportedly shot down an advanced Israeli drone in the Lorestan province.

Following the Israeli attacks, Iran launched missile strikes in retaliation against Israel, after which sirens were heard in Israeli cities.

According to the foreign news agency Al Jazeera, the Israeli military issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) saying that missiles were fired towards Israel from Iran and urged citizens to take immediate shelter as soon as the alert was sounded. The defense system is working to prevent the threat.

Israeli media reported that sirens sounded in multiple cities, including Nahariya, Gush Halav, Hila, Ma’ona, and Ma’alia. Yesterday, one missile collided with its target but sirens did not go off. After investigation, the Israeli military confirmed the missile was Iranian and that no defensive missiles were mistakenly fired.

Meanwhile, according to the Qatari news agency, Israel claimed in a statement released on X that their attacks destroyed 15 Iranian aircraft and helicopters via remote-controlled drones. The strikes damaged runways, underground bunkers, an oil-laden aircraft, and Iranian government-operated F-14, F-5, and AH-1 aircraft.

The Israeli military claimed that Israeli Air Force aircraft impaired the operational capacity of the Iranian airbases and Iran’s air power. Iran’s Tasnim News Agency also confirmed the martyrdom of 10 Revolutionary Guards personnel in Yazd.
