Israeli Army Launches Ground Operation in Southern Lebanon

Tel Aviv — The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has commenced a ground operation in southern Lebanon. According to a statement posted on the social media platform X, the IDF’s 91st Brigade has entered southern Lebanon as part of an effort to expand the Forward Defense Zone near the border.

The Israeli military stated that the operation, which began in recent days, aims to destroy Hezbollah’s infrastructure, neutralize threats, and provide additional security for civilians living in Israeli border areas. The army emphasized that the mission is focused on securing border regions and ensuring the safety of Israeli communities near the frontier.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, Lebanon reported that since February 28, Israeli attacks have killed at least 850 people and injured more than 2,000 others. Civilian casualties and infrastructure damage have drawn concern from humanitarian agencies and international observers.

The situation has escalated tensions in the region, with both sides warning of further military actions. Observers note that the ground operation represents a significant intensification of the conflict that has already caused substantial loss of life and widespread destruction in southern Lebanon.

The IDF indicated that the ground offensive will complement ongoing aerial and artillery strikes aimed at limiting Hezbollah’s operational capabilities, while Lebanese authorities continue to call for measures to protect civilians and minimize further casualties.
