Yumna Zaidi calls for justice after orphaned teenager’s death
Actress Yumna Zaidi has voiced concern over the death of 15 year old Waseem Abbas, an orphaned worker who was chased and run over by his employer in Multan after leaving his workplace.
The incident has sparked public outrage after reports and CCTV footage showed the teenager fleeing before being struck by a car.
Police have arrested the main suspect, identified as contractor Tauqeer Nazir, and registered a murder case.
Waseem reportedly lived at an orphanage and had been sent to learn electrical work.
According to police, he had been working with the contractor for around a week before the incident.
The suspect has claimed that his car slipped while he was trying to stop the teenager from running away, while witnesses have disputed his account.
Reacting to the tragedy, Yumna shared a reminder urging people not to mistreat orphans.
The case has renewed calls for justice for Waseem and raised concerns about the safety and protection of vulnerable children who work to support themselves or learn a trade.
Yumna Zaidi is a prominent Pakistani television actress known for her performances in dramas such as Pyaar Ke Sadqay, Bakhtawar and Tere Bin.
