Paris: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the Iran agreement has entered a second phase and that Washington is interested in obtaining Iran’s enriched uranium under the terms of the deal.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said he was satisfied with how Qatar handled diplomatic efforts and described the Iran agreement as a “fair deal.”

He added that the United States does not intend to make any investment inside Iran but emphasized that the priority remains preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

According to Trump, the agreement ensures that Iran will never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. He stated that under the deal, Iran will not retain nuclear weapons capability, and any attempt by Tehran to pursue nuclear arms would lead to severe consequences.

Trump further said that the Iran agreement is now moving into a second phase, during which discussions on enriched uranium will continue, as the U.S. seeks to secure or control Iran’s stockpile.

He also warned that if Iran attempts to develop nuclear weapons, it would face destruction, reiterating his administration’s hardline stance on nuclear non-proliferation.

The remarks come amid ongoing international discussions over the implementation and verification mechanisms of the U.S.–Iran understanding, which has drawn mixed reactions from global political and security circles.
