Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the idea of a two-state solution in Palestine.

During a meeting at the White House between the U.S. President and the Israeli Prime Minister, a journalist asked Donald Trump about the two-state solution. Trump redirected the question to Netanyahu, saying, “The best person to answer that question is standing right in front of me.”

Responding to the journalist, Netanyahu stated, “We want peace with the Palestinians, but an independent Palestinian state would be a platform to destroy Israel.”

The Israeli Prime Minister further said that Palestinians should have full authority to govern themselves, but not any powers that could pose a threat to Israel.

Netanyahu added, “This means certain powers, such as overall security, will always remain in our hands. Some people may say this doesn’t amount to a full-fledged state, but we don’t care what people say.”
