Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the recent resurgence of terrorism in various parts of Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, despite its complete eradication in 2018. Speaking at a workshop in Balochistan, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of national unity, equitable development, and the need for renewed focus on the province’s security and prosperity.

Highlighting the province’s historical and cultural significance, the Prime Minister stated that Baloch leaders made a historic and voluntary decision to accede to Pakistan. “Balochistan’s rich history, culture, and traditions make it unique. Allah has blessed the province with vast natural resources, yet, regrettably, much of its wealth remains untapped beneath the earth,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that decades of neglect towards Balochistan must serve as a moment of national self-reflection. He lauded the Baloch people’s hospitality and broad-mindedness, adding that lasting harmony among various communities has always been a hallmark of the province. However, he noted that Balochistan’s challenging geography continues to hinder development efforts, especially in reaching remote areas with essential infrastructure.

“The provision of electricity and road connectivity to far-flung regions remains a major challenge,” he stated. “Without a robust road network, progress in education and industry cannot be achieved. Balochistan’s development is directly linked to Pakistan’s overall prosperity.”

The Prime Minister further remarked that the spirit of the federation lies in mutual sacrifice and brotherhood, urging all provinces to work together for collective national progress. “We must remember that we are Pakistanis first and residents of our provinces later,” he asserted.

Touching on the deteriorating security situation, Shehbaz Sharif said, “In 2018, terrorism was completely eliminated from Pakistan. Unfortunately, it is now re-emerging in Balochistan and other regions. Our security forces are sacrificing their lives daily to safeguard the nation’s peace.” He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting security institutions and restoring peace across the country.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that the people of Balochistan are brothers to all Pakistanis and must be given equal participation in national development. He urged introspection to understand the underlying causes of unrest and insisted that unity, love, and determination could ensure progress from Balochistan to Peshawar.
