KARACHI – Security agencies in Karachi have successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack, preventing what could have been a devastating incident in the city.

According to officials, during an operation in Bilal Riyas Goth, authorities recovered over four tons of explosive material. The seized items included gas cylinders and a mini-truck, which were reportedly part of the planned attack.

The operation was conducted based on intelligence provided by detained terrorists, who had revealed details about the intended attack. Security sources stated that the explosives were loaded into a truck and were set to be detonated along II Chundrigar Road, a busy commercial area of Karachi.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) safely neutralized the explosives, which were stored in 60 drums and five gas cylinders, preventing any harm to the public or property. Authorities emphasized that the materials were transported in drums across the city before they could be deployed.

Security agencies praised the prompt coordination and intelligence-led operation, which averted potential large-scale casualties and damage. Officials reiterated that ongoing counter-terrorism measures and surveillance remain in place to ensure public safety.

Residents of Karachi expressed relief at the successful operation, noting that the city was saved from what could have been a catastrophic attack. Authorities urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to maintain safety across the metropolitan area.

This successful intervention highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven security operations in urban centers and underscores the continued threat of terrorism, while showcasing the capabilities of Pakistani law enforcement and counter-terrorism units in protecting major cities.
