Dar briefs Iranian counterpart on Makkah defence agreement

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, during which the two sides discussed the regional and global situation, the Foreign Office said on Monday.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on the evolving situation in the region and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.

Dar briefed his Iranian counterpart on the details of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement recently signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

The deputy prime minister said the agreement was aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation among the participating countries and contributing to regional peace and security.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked Ishaq Dar for sharing details of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.

The two foreign ministers also discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional and international developments.

The telephone conversation comes amid heightened diplomatic engagement among regional countries over evolving security and political developments in the region.
