Weekly Inflation Decline: Sugar, Rice Among 14 Items Become Costlier, 12 Items Cheaper – Statistics Department Releases Report

Islamabad (Saturday, June 28, 2025) – A decrease in weekly inflation has been observed. Despite this, 14 essential items including sugar and rice became more expensive, while 12 items saw a decline in prices, and the prices of 25 items remained stable.

According to the report issued by the Statistics Department, the trend of a slowdown in the rate of inflation continues. Over the past week, the annual inflation rate increased by only 1.52%, while weekly inflation registered a 0.18% decrease.

The report highlights that in the past week, electricity prices rose by 6.88%, jaggery by 1%, sugar by 0.88%, LPG by 1.24%, tomatoes by 0.99%, and Basmati broken rice by 0.69%.

In addition, prices increased for the following:

  • Powdered milk by 0.03%
  • Fresh open milk by 0.38%
  • Yogurt by 0.36%
  • Firewood by 0.11%
  • Garlic by a significant 5.15%

Meanwhile, prices fell for:

  • Potatoes by 1.27%
  • Onions by 1.46%
  • Eggs by a notable 12.27%
  • Chicken meat by 10.75%
  • Mash lentils by 0.49%
  • Moong lentils by 0.39%
  • Bananas by 2.75%
  • Another unspecified item by 1.01%

The report presents a mixed picture but shows an overall slight improvement in inflationary pressure for the week.
