National Peace Message Committee Meets DG ISPR, Pledges Full Support for Promoting National Narrative
Islamabad: The National Peace Message Committee (NPAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to fully support the promotion of Pakistan’s national narrative, following a high-level meeting with the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, at the General Headquarters (GHQ). The meeting highlighted the importance of unity in national security, countering extremist narratives, and raising public awareness about social harmony and constitutional equality.
According to ISPR sources, the discussion focused on internal security challenges in light of threats posed by banned terrorist organizations, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Tehrik-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA). Both sides engaged in comprehensive talks, strengthening a shared stance on national security matters and reaffirming Pakistan’s principled positions on international issues such as Kashmir and Gaza.
DG ISPR emphasized that consensus on the national security narrative and the promotion of a unified national message are crucial at this time. “In matters of national security, unity and agreement on our national narrative are essential. Supporting the oppressed is a moral responsibility for Pakistan,” he said, highlighting the ethical and strategic importance of coordinated messaging.
The NPAC assured the military leadership of complete cooperation in spreading the national narrative across the country. Members of the committee expressed unwavering solidarity with the Pakistan Armed Forces and reaffirmed a joint commitment to counter narratives that threaten the state. The dialogue underscored the importance of close coordination between civil society, religious institutions, and the military in fostering national cohesion and countering extremism.
During the meeting, the NPAC condemned the actions of extremist groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban, emphasizing that terrorism has no justification. The committee reiterated that all forms of violent extremism and sectarianism are contrary to Pakistan’s values, calling for a zero-tolerance approach toward hate speech, sectarianism, and takfiri ideologies.
To promote unity, social cohesion, and constitutional equality nationwide, the NPAC announced plans to expand awareness campaigns through mosques, religious schools (madrasas), and universities. These initiatives aim to engage the public at grassroots levels, promoting messages of tolerance, mutual respect, and civic responsibility while countering extremist propaganda and misinformation.
DG ISPR also highlighted the importance of public awareness in countering psychological warfare and information campaigns by adversaries. “In the battle against the enemy’s psychological operations, a truthful, fact-based national narrative is a decisive weapon,” he stated. The meeting emphasized that raising awareness among the populace and reinforcing a common understanding of Pakistan’s core values are essential tools in safeguarding national security.
Officials said the discussions were highly productive, resulting in practical steps to enhance cooperation between the military and civil society organizations. Both sides expressed optimism about developing new pathways for collaboration, including joint initiatives, educational outreach, and media campaigns to strengthen the national message.
The NPAC’s pledge reflects a broad-based approach to national unity, emphasizing that peace, social harmony, and religious tolerance are shared responsibilities for all segments of society. By working alongside the armed forces and governmental institutions, civil society organizations like NPAC aim to ensure that extremist narratives do not gain traction, particularly among youth and vulnerable communities.
In addition to countering domestic extremism, the meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to international humanitarian and ethical responsibilities. Support for oppressed populations, whether in Kashmir, Gaza, or elsewhere, was highlighted as a key component of Pakistan’s national ethos, aligning moral obligations with national policy objectives.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both the NPAC and DG ISPR agreeing to continue coordination on promoting the national narrative. The committee’s engagement with the military underscores the importance of synergy between state institutions and civil society to maintain social cohesion, safeguard internal security, and present a unified stance on both domestic and international issues.
In conclusion, the NPAC’s meeting with DG ISPR signifies a strategic partnership aimed at fostering national unity, countering extremist ideologies, and promoting a cohesive national narrative. Through awareness campaigns, educational outreach, and collaborative initiatives, the committee and the armed forces aim to reinforce social harmony, constitutional equality, and moral responsibility, ensuring that Pakistan’s message of peace, tolerance, and justice reaches all segments of society.
