Larkana : A colourful ceremony was organized at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Memorial Library in Larkana to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14. The event was arranged by the library’s in-charge, Shamsuddin Abbasi.

Larkana Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio, Nazir Hussain Abro, Waqar Ali Kanasro, Sadia Abro, Reeman Gad, along with teachers and a large number of female students from various educational institutions across the city, attended the ceremony.

The event began with the national anthem, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio said that the Girls Section of the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Memorial Library had organized an excellent programme to pay tribute to the country’s heroes.

He appreciated the efforts of the library administration and the participating students, saying that their contribution to the Independence Day celebrations deserved the highest praise. He also congratulated the library in-charge and the students on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Shamsuddin Abbasi said that August 14 was a day of great happiness and pride for the nation because Pakistan gained independence from British colonial rule on August 14, 1947.

He said Pakistanis were fortunate to be citizens of an independent country. He added that the country’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, along with other leaders and elders, waged a long and historic struggle to achieve independence for the beloved homeland.

Abbasi emphasized that freedom was a great blessing and should be valued and protected by every citizen.

The ceremony also featured colourful tableaus presented by female students, adding to the spirit and enthusiasm of the Independence Day celebrations.
