War Against Iran Triggers Political Turmoil in the US, Divisions Emerge in Trump’s Party

The conflict with Iran has stirred political turbulence in the United States, exposing divisions within the Republican Party of President Donald Trump.

According to reports, disagreements within the Republican Party have become increasingly visible. While several influential leaders and supporters back the military action, a number of conservative figures are criticizing the war, calling it unnecessary and risky.

Some Republican circles argue that the ongoing war with Iran is essentially a war on behalf of Israel and that the United States should not be directly involved in the conflict.

Political analysts say this dispute highlights an ideological divide within the party that could influence upcoming elections. Prominent American media personality Tucker Carlson has openly stated that the United States should withdraw from the conflict as soon as possible. Reports suggest he even met Trump last month to urge him not to pursue military action against Iran.

Public opinion surveys indicate that even among Republican voters there is no full consensus on the war. While some view the action as necessary, many others consider it an unnecessary risk. A survey found that about 54% of Americans disagree with Trump’s Iran policy. Around 89% of Democrats oppose the war, while roughly 77% of Republicans support it, though divisions still exist within Republican voters.

Well-known podcaster Joe Rogan described the war as “extremely insane.” Meanwhile, former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized Trump, saying American voters had chosen to avoid further foreign wars.

Disagreements have also surfaced in the US Congress. Republican congressman Thomas Massie supported a bill that would have allowed Congress to veto the war decision, but the proposal did not succeed.
