Heavy rains and flooding across various regions of Afghanistan have resulted in at least 28 deaths.
According to international media reports:
- Severe rainfall has been affecting multiple provinces since Thursday
- Afghan authorities reported that 28 people were killed and 49 injured
- The casualties were caused by floods, landslides, and lightning strikes
In addition:
- More than 100 houses have been destroyed due to flooding and landslides
This is not the first such disaster in recent months. Earlier in January, heavy rains and snowfall in Afghanistan also caused the deaths of over 60 people.
These recurring extreme weather events highlight the country’s vulnerability to natural disasters, especially in rural and mountainous areas.
