The Sindh Chief Minister has approved a grant of Rs 13 billion for the rehabilitation of roads in Karachi.

A meeting regarding road rehabilitation was held under the chairmanship of the Sindh Chief Minister, during which the Mayor of Karachi identified 409 dilapidated roads in the city requiring repairs.

Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah also attended the meeting and stated that patchwork will be carried out on 400 roads across seven districts, while nine roads will be completely reconstructed. He added that the total cost of road, sewerage, and water supply projects will amount to Rs 12.57 billion.

On this occasion, Murad Ali Shah approved Rs 21.53 billion for the improvement of the city’s infrastructure, including a Rs 13 billion grant specifically for the rehabilitation of Karachi’s roads. Financial assistance was also approved for 24 Town Municipal Corporations.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that public convenience and citizen safety are the top priorities of the Sindh government, and that the rehabilitation of roads will improve traffic flow and promote economic activities.

According to a spokesperson, Murad Ali Shah has directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to rehabilitate 26 major roads in the city. He also instructed that all projects be completed transparently, with high quality and within the stipulated time, and directed the Finance Department to release funds immediately.
