River Indus Flood Breach Submerges Villages in Tharoshah, Residents Left Without Aid

Tharoshah After the recent rise in the Indus River’s water level, a landowner’s protective embankment collapsed, causing severe flooding in surrounding areas. The breach resulted in hundreds of acres of standing crops being destroyed and several villages, including Bego Sial, Hashim Sial, and Budhal Gopang, were submerged, leaving residents in a state of panic and distress.

The sudden disaster has forced many families to abandon their homes and migrate to safer locations, carrying only the essentials they could gather. Fear and uncertainty loom large as displaced residents struggle with both shelter and livelihood loss.

Residents Cry for Help

Speaking to the media, villagers expressed their anger and disappointment over the lack of government support. They said that despite the breach occurring three days ago, no official assistance or relief has yet reached the affected areas.

Parents voiced deep concerns about their children’s health, as many youngsters have already fallen ill due to contaminated water, unsafe conditions, and the lack of medical facilities. “Our children are sick, but no medical team from the Health Department has visited us,” lamented one villager.

Demands for Immediate Action

The affected families appealed directly to Sindh Chief Minister and Provincial Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar to take urgent notice of the crisis. They demanded:

  • Financial assistance for the flood-affected families.
  • Deployment of health department teams to provide medical treatment to sick children.
  • Preventive measures to protect residents from waterborne diseases and epidemics.

A Looming Humanitarian Crisis

Locals fear that without swift government intervention, the situation could escalate into a major humanitarian disaster, with the twin challenges of displacement and disease overwhelming communities. Crops worth millions have been washed away, leaving farmers economically devastated, while hundreds of families are now homeless and living in unsafe makeshift arrangements.

The people of Tharoshah continue to wait anxiously, hoping that the government and relevant authorities will respond before the situation worsens further.
