The Trump administration’s decision to suspend processing of immigrant visas for 75 countries, including Pakistan, has been challenged in a U.S. court. A group of civil rights organizations filed a lawsuit in a New York court against the U.S. State Department, arguing that the policy undermines decades of established immigration law. The lawsuit seeks a court order to halt the visa suspension.

The suspension has been in effect since January 21. Countries affected include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Bosnia, and others. Critics say the move unfairly restricts immigration and could have long-term legal and humanitarian consequences.
