Islamabad (Sunday, July 13, 2025) – A decision has been made to form a special committee to devise a strong strategy against India’s water aggression.

According to reports, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal stated that a special committee comprising engineers will be formed under the leadership of the Planning Commission.

During a meeting with a delegation of engineers, Ahsan Iqbal also inaugurated the Engineers’ Lounge established in Lahore. On this occasion, he said the committee would include representatives from the Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP), Pakistan Engineering Congress, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Pakistan (IEEEP), and other bodies.

The federal minister stated that a Federation of Engineering Institutions of Pakistan will also be formed. A national policy will be developed in consultation with all provinces to counter Indian water aggression.

He added that the committee, comprising engineers from all four provinces, will present proposals to resolve technical issues. Disputes among provinces on technical matters will be resolved on technical grounds, not political ones.

Secretary General of IEP, Engineer Ameer Zamir Khan, said that politicians must rise above provincial disputes, and all engineering bodies are ready to play their role under the umbrella of the Planning Commission.
