Rawalpindi: Pakistan is observing the 27th martyrdom anniversary of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider), one of the country’s most decorated military heroes, with the armed forces paying tribute to his extraordinary courage and sacrifice.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of the Naval Staff, and the Chief of the Air Staff paid homage to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed on the occasion of his martyrdom anniversary.

The military’s media wing stated that Havaldar Lalak Jan demonstrated exceptional bravery during the Kargil conflict on July 7, 1999, when he defended his military post against repeated enemy attacks with remarkable courage and determination.

Despite sustaining severe injuries during the fighting, Havaldar Lalak Jan refused to evacuate his position and continued leading his fellow soldiers in the face of relentless enemy assaults.

According to the ISPR, he fought until his last breath while commanding his comrades and ultimately embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

The military described his unwavering commitment, resilience, and selfless devotion to the nation as an enduring symbol of courage and patriotism.

The ISPR said Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s supreme sacrifice continues to inspire generations of Pakistanis and members of the armed forces. His steadfast defense of his post under extremely challenging circumstances remains a shining example of bravery, perseverance, and dedication to national service.

Awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military gallantry award, Havaldar Lalak Jan is remembered for his exceptional valor and refusal to abandon his position despite overwhelming odds. His legacy continues to hold a distinguished place in Pakistan’s military history.

On the occasion of his 27th martyrdom anniversary, the Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their respect for his sacrifice and paid tribute to all martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the country’s sovereignty and security.
