Islamabad: Pakistan has said that the cessation of armed activities in Lebanon is an essential requirement for peace and should be viewed within the framework of ongoing ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Lebanon ceasefire is part of a broader negotiating process, and developments in this regard must be understood in a wider regional context.

The spokesperson emphasized that ending armed hostilities in Lebanon is necessary for regional stability and lasting peace, adding that all diplomatic efforts in this direction are part of a continuous process involving multiple stakeholders.

Referring to Iran–US negotiations, the spokesperson said that the dialogue between the two sides has remained continuous and constructive, without any major breakthrough or breakdown. He described the situation as “neither a breakthrough nor a collapse,” indicating that discussions are still ongoing.

According to the spokesperson, the two delegations engaged in extensive talks lasting around 21 hours, making it one of the most detailed and serious rounds of negotiations so far. He added that if the total engagement time is considered, the process extended beyond 24 hours, reflecting the depth and seriousness of the discussions.

He further said that the commitment shown by both sides during the negotiations is commendable, noting that sustaining such long and complex discussions demonstrates a strong willingness to engage on difficult issues.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan views all ongoing diplomatic engagements, including high-level meetings and reciprocal visits in Tehran and other regional capitals, as part of a continuous and evolving peace process aimed at reducing tensions and promoting stability.
