Sukkur Launches E-Challan and Safe City Project with Cameras Installed on Military Road

Sukkur (Danish Rajput): Under the E-Challan system, modern surveillance cameras have been installed on Military Road as part of the Safe City initiative in Sukkur. The project was inaugurated by the spokesperson of the Sindh government and Mayor Sukkur, Arslan Sheikh, along with SSP Sukkur, Azhar Mughal. During the inauguration, both officials held a joint press conference to outline the objectives and benefits of the initiative.

Mayor Arslan Sheikh stated that the Safe City project has officially begun in Sukkur. He highlighted that the E-Challan system in Karachi has led to positive behavioral changes among citizens, and now Sukkur is taking a similar step toward enhancing road safety and law enforcement. The mayor emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and citizens, noting that public participation is crucial for the city’s development and overall improvement.

Despite recent sudden rainfall, Mayor Sheikh praised the city’s infrastructure for effectively managing water drainage, ensuring that roads remained functional and free of flooding. He added that Sukkur is on the path of progress and development, with civic and technological initiatives contributing to the city’s modernization.

SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal explained that a total of 170 cameras will initially be installed across the city, with plans to extend the coverage to Rohri and Pano Aqil. He highlighted that the project will significantly enhance both city security and traffic management. Furthermore, a dedicated control room will be established to monitor the E-Challan system and coordinate real-time traffic enforcement.

Officials said the Safe City and E-Challan projects aim to improve citizen safety, ensure orderly traffic flow, and contribute to the overall development and modernization of Sukkur. The initiative is expected to play a critical role in reducing traffic violations, curbing criminal activities, and fostering a safer and more organized urban environment for all residents.

By combining technology with law enforcement, Sukkur’s authorities aim to create a sustainable system where public safety, efficient traffic management, and city development go hand in hand, setting an example for other cities in the region.
