Islamabad Traffic Plan Issued Amid US–Iran Talks, Red Zone Fully Sealed

Authorities in Islamabad have implemented a comprehensive traffic diversion plan in light of the arrival of foreign delegations for the ongoing US–Iran negotiations. As part of heightened security measures, key علاقوں of the federal capital—particularly the Red Zone—have been completely sealed off to ensure the safety of visiting officials and smooth conduct of high-level talks.

According to Islamabad Traffic Police, both the Red Zone and the extended Red Zone will remain fully closed to all kinds of traffic. These restrictions are expected to significantly impact daily commuters, especially those traveling through central Islamabad.

Several major routes have been closed or diverted under the plan. Kashmir Chowk to Zero Point via Club Road and Srinagar Highway has been shut down. Additionally, the stretch from Zero Point to Serena Chowk on Srinagar Highway is also closed, restricting access to one of the city’s busiest corridors.

Further closures include Shakarparian Road from Chand Tara Chowk toward Seventh Avenue, as well as Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban Chowk toward Blue Area. These closures affect key commercial and administrative zones, leading to expected traffic congestion on alternative routes.

Traffic police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes to avoid delays. Citizens are also encouraged to follow official updates and cooperate with law enforcement personnel deployed across the city.

The strict measures reflect the حساس nature of the diplomatic engagements currently underway in Islamabad. With global attention focused on the US–Iran talks, authorities are prioritizing security and order, even if it causes temporary inconvenience to the public.

Officials have assured that the restrictions are temporary and will be lifted once the high-level visits conclude. In the meantime, residents are urged to remain patient and adhere to traffic guidelines to help maintain smooth flow on designated alternative routes.
