A widespread spell of rain, accompanied by hailstorms in some علاقوں, has affected various parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), bringing a mix of relief and disruption. While the rainfall has lowered temperatures and improved weather conditions, it has also caused landslides and road blockages in several mountainous areas.

According to reports, multiple districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—including Swat, Karak, Malakand, Abbottabad, and Mansehra—received rainfall. The showers helped cool down the weather, offering relief from recent heat. However, in higher altitude regions such as Galyat and Naran Valley, snowfall was recorded, making the weather significantly colder and creating challenging conditions for travelers.

A major incident occurred in Azad Kashmir’s Neelum Valley, where a landslide blocked the main road at the Kel–Sheikh Bela point. As a result, more than 20 tourist vehicles were stranded in the علاقے. Authorities responded by assisting the affected افراد, and several travelers were provided temporary accommodation in nearby communities to ensure their safety.

Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to clear the debris and reopen the road as soon as possible. Landslides are a common hazard in hilly regions during periods of heavy rain or snowfall, often leading to temporary isolation of certain areas.

In Balochistan, rain was also reported in the upper regions of Ziarat Valley, as well as in Tooba Achakzai and Tooba Kakari. These areas, known for their cooler climates, experienced further drops in temperature due to the rainfall.

Meanwhile, the Karakoram Highway, a crucial route connecting northern Pakistan with China, was blocked near Lachi Nala in Kohistan due to another landslide. This closure has disrupted traffic flow and may impact trade and travel until the route is cleared.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the current weather system is likely to persist, with more rain expected in the upper parts of the country. There is also a possibility of additional hailstorms in certain علاقوں. Authorities have advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable regions, and stay updated with official weather advisories.

Although the rainfall has improved environmental conditions and reduced heat levels, it has also highlighted the risks associated with extreme weather in mountainous terrains. Infrastructure challenges, particularly road safety and maintenance, remain a concern during such conditions.
