Police and CTD Operation in Bannu Kills 8 Terrorists; One Police Officer Martyred

An intelligence-based operation conducted by police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bannu resulted in the killing of eight terrorists, while one police officer was martyred and another injured, officials confirmed.

According to the Central Police Office (CPO), the operation was carried out early in the morning in the jurisdiction of Thana Miryan. A heavy exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants during the raid.

Police officials said that multiple terrorists were also injured in the encounter. The injured police officer was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities further stated that modern surveillance technology, including drones, was used to monitor terrorist movements during the operation. Security forces also recovered a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED), which was successfully defused on the spot.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant networks operating in the region. Officials emphasized that intelligence-based actions will continue to target anti-state elements and restore peace in the area.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed praised the operation, stating that police forces remain on the front line in protecting the lives and property of citizens. He added that all hostile elements would face a strong and decisive response.

The incident highlights the continued security challenges in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies regularly conduct operations based on intelligence reports to prevent terrorist activity.

Authorities have vowed to intensify counterterrorism efforts and ensure that those responsible for violence and instability are brought to justice.
