In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following high-level negotiations held in Doha, Qatar.

According to an official statement issued by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision for an immediate cessation of hostilities was reached during peace talks facilitated by Qatar and Turkey. Both countries have been playing a key role in mediating between Islamabad and Kabul to de-escalate the growing border tensions that have recently threatened regional stability.

The Qatari statement emphasized that the ceasefire agreement reflects a strong commitment from both sides to prioritize dialogue over confrontation and to prevent further loss of life and economic damage in the border regions.

Diplomatic sources revealed that the talks, held in the Qatari capital, were attended by senior representatives from both governments, including high-ranking officials from the Pakistani Foreign Office and the Afghan Ministry of Defense. The two sides reportedly discussed the recent incidents of cross-border shelling, the movement of armed groups, and measures to enhance security cooperation along the Durand Line.

As part of the agreement, Pakistan and Afghanistan have also decided to hold a series of follow-up meetings in the coming days to develop a long-term framework for peace and mutual cooperation. This framework is expected to include mechanisms for intelligence sharing, joint border monitoring, and the prevention of militant activities that threaten the sovereignty of either nation.
