In a joint operation by SEPCO and the district administration in various areas of Subdivision-2 Sukkur—particularly on Vice Road—a strong crackdown was carried out against electricity theft, resulting in the disconnection of dozens of illegal connections. During the operation, stolen electricity wires were destroyed on the spot.
The operation was led by SEPCO Executive Engineer (XEN) Nizamuddin Pirzada and SDO Mushtaq Qureshi, who were present at the site and personally supervised the entire process. Representatives from the district administration, including Nazar Memon and other staff members, actively participated alongside SEPCO officials.
According to sources, SEPCO had been suffering heavy financial lossesamounting to millions of rupees—due to widespread electricity theft. Officials stated that the crackdown targeted not only those involved in power theft but also consumers who had been consistently negligent in paying their electricity bills.
During the operation, the team not only disconnected illegal connections but also urged residents to opt for legal means of electricity usage. Citizens were educated that electricity theft is not only a crime but also severely harms the country’s economy and energy infrastructure.
SEPCO officials made it clear that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against electricity theft, and strict legal action will continue to be taken against such elements. Authorities emphasized that no leniency will be shown to electricity thieves, and this campaign will gradually be expanded to other areas
