Majlis-e-Aza and Processions Held Across the Country on the Day of Ashura

On the occasion of Ashura, mourning gatherings (Majlis-e-Aza) and processions are being held across the country to commemorate the eternal sacrifice of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussain (RA), and his loyal companions.

In Lahore, the main Ashura procession started from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate, and it will conclude this evening at Karbala Gamay Shah.

In Karachi, the main procession began at 10 AM from Nishtar Park and will conclude at Husseiniya Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar, following its designated route.

In Quetta, the central Ashura procession began from Alamdar Road. During this time, mobile phone and internet services were suspended, and a ban was imposed on pillion riding (double riding on motorcycles).

9th Muharram Processions Concluded Across the Country

In Peshawar, all processions of the night of Ashura have ended. A total of 16 processions were taken out across the city during the night.

Meanwhile, in Rohri, the historical “No Dhall” procession of 9th Muharram reached Karbala Ground through its traditional route. Mourners will stay overnight at Karbala Ground and proceed to Shuhada Graveyard after Zuhrain prayers today.

In Multan, more than 25 processions, including the traditional Ustaad-Shagird Tazias, will be held at 11 AM. In Gujranwala, the main procession will start from Imambargah Gulistan-e-Ma’rifat.

In Mithi, the Ashura procession began at 10 AM, while in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, the central procession will start at 11 AM from Imambargah Bait-ul-Huzn.

The administration has implemented strict security measures, and mobile phone services are affected in several locations.
