Islamabad (Bureau Report): Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sheikh Waqas Akram, strongly criticized the agriculture-hostile policies, stating that the government’s flawed strategies have pushed profitable crops into a serious crisis. By neglecting farmers, the backbone of the economy is being broken. The current budget is anti-farmer and cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that no farmer package has been included in this budget. Farmers have not been provided with facilities such as fertilizers and tractors. Agricultural growth in the country is declining, which he described as being against farmers, and hence, against Pakistan itself.

He noted a 34% decline in cotton production, and stated that farmers across the country are facing severe difficulties. According to him, there has also been a 14% decline in maize production, and wheat production has decreased as well. At present, agriculture in the country is facing major challenges.
