The Apple iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have only been available for a few weeks, but many users on Reddit are already reporting that the phone’s color can change over time.

This problem affects all versions of the flagship phone, but it is especially noticeable on the “Burgundy” model.

Interestingly, the discoloration only appears around the three rear cameras, not across the whole back. Users say it is not caused by dirt, grease, or damage, and cleaning the phone does not remove it.

No one knows the exact cause yet, but one user thinks the color changes around the cameras because they get warm during use. The many reports suggest this problem is fairly common.

Apple has not commented on the discoloration yet, so it is unclear if they will fix it or if customers will have to accept it. This is not the first time Apple has faced such problems, as some orange iPhone 17 Pro units also had severe discoloration.

Last year, Apple replaced affected iPhones for free, but the problem was not as common on the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,160 on Amazon) as it seems to be with the iPhone 18 Pro.
