LARKANA, October 25, 2025:
A series of cultural, political, and social events took place across Larkana, showcasing the city’s vibrant diversity and active civic engagement.

The Hindu Panchayat Larkana organized a colorful Diwali celebration at Marvi Lawn of Sambara Hotel, attended by a large number of Hindu families. Prominent guests included MNA Ramesh Lal, MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro, Special Assistant to CM Khair Muhammad Sheikh, Chairman District Council Ejaz Ahmed Leghari, Vice Chairman Asadullah Bhutto, and Mayor Advocate Anwar Ali Luhar.
In his address, MPA Soomro distributed sweets among the Hindu community and extended greetings on behalf of the Sindh government. MNA Ramesh Lal praised the unity between Hindus and Muslims in Sindh, emphasizing that “Sindh has always been a land of peace, love, and coexistence.” The ceremony included cultural dances, musical performances, and a fireworks display. Noted comedian Asghar Khoso entertained the audience, while Leelan Sisters and other artists received appreciation for their performances.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Larkana and Qamber-Shahdadkot districts held a joint organizational meeting at Jamia Islamia Ashaat-ul-Quran wal-Hadees. The session was chaired by Allama Nasir Khalid Mahmood Soomro and attended by JUI-F Sindh leader Allama Rashid Khalid Mahmood Soomro. The meeting decided to organize a “Shaheed-e-Islam Conference” on November 28, 2025, at Jinnah Bagh Chowk, in memory of Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro. Speakers lauded Dr. Soomro’s lifelong struggle for Islamic education, Sindh’s rights, and social justice.

In another development, the Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) held a meeting chaired by Khair Muhammad Sheikh to discuss the recent ban on wheat seed imports from Punjab. The participants condemned the ban as “unconstitutional and anti-agriculture,” warning it could harm national food security. The chamber resolved to write to the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers of Sindh and Punjab, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce to withdraw the ban. Sheikh cited Article 151 of the Constitution, asserting that “free inter-provincial trade is a constitutional right.”

At the Government Institute of Business and Commercial Education, MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro inaugurated a new building, emphasizing technical and vocational education as key to reducing unemployment. He said, “Young people must focus on acquiring skills rather than relying solely on government jobs.” Regional Director Mureed Hussain Khokharani thanked the Sindh government for supporting technical education initiatives.
