There has been a record increase in thefts and robberies in Sukkur city. Pak Soch has obtained details of some recent incidents. One of the most distressing events took place on the night of 27th June 2025 at around 10 PM, when a student was robbed at gunpoint near the NADRA Head Office on the 100-foot road intersection. The student reported that two armed men snatched his mobile phone, Rs. 5,000 cash, and a 125cc motorcycle.

On the night of 8th Muharram, at around 8 PM, a young man from the Merani community had his 125cc motorcycle stolen near Civil Hospital. On the evening of 5th Muharram, around 6 PM, a young man in Rohri was robbed of his CD motorcycle at gunpoint from a white cabin.

On the night of Eid-ul-Adha, around 9 PM, Ali Raza Solangi, son of Zulfiqar Solangi, Chief Editor of Pak Soch newspaper, was robbed at gunpoint by four masked armed robbers, who took away his brand-new 2025 model CD motorcycle. The robbers escaped easily.

In Shalimar area under C-Section police station, four armed criminals fled after robbing Faizan Merani of his CD motorcycle. From Civil Hospital, under the same police station, a CD motorcycle belonging to Sehat Ali, a resident of Thul, was stolen.

In the B-Section area, Zulfi Kamboh’s CD motorcycle was stolen from Anaj Bazaar, and Abdul Ali Qureshi’s CD motorcycle was stolen near the railway station.

Under the A-Section police station, Kashif Memon’s 2023 model 125cc motorcycle was stolen from outside Makrani Mosque, and Ghulam Mustafa Abro’s 2015 model CD motorcycle was stolen from near Benazir Park, followed by Abdul Wahid Soomro’s CD motorcycle stolen from the same area.

Near Pak Cola Chowk, under SITE police station, armed criminals snatched a 2023 model CD motorcycle and cash from Leelo Mal.

In Rohri, a 2017 model CD motorcycle was stolen from Chohara Mandi, while at an overhead bridge near Patni police station, Imtiyar Ali was robbed of a 2021 model CD motorcycle and Rs. 50,000, and was also injured for resisting.

From Pano Aqil, within Mubarakpur police jurisdiction, five armed criminals snatched Rs. 80,000 from Ehsan Minhyar and escaped. Under Jhangro police station, two armed motorcyclists robbed Aamir Sarohi of his 2025 model Corolla car and Rs. 8,000, and fled.

Meanwhile, in Sukkur’s busiest commercial area, Bandar Road, a shocking incident occurred at the well-known eatery “Zaiqa Biryani”. At 6:30 AM on Saturday, a masked thief skillfully unlocked the shop, entered, and stole over Rs. 900,000 in cash from the counter before relocking and escaping. The entire theft was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the thief’s movements. Shopkeeper Mazamil has provided all evidence to the police, but no effective action has been taken so far.

Furthermore, two motorcycles were recently stolen from outside Benazir Park in Sukkur. As per Ghulam Mustafa, son of Sodho Abro, his 2015 model red CD motorcycle (number SLM-6838) was stolen by unknown thieves. An FIR (No. 186/2025) was filed at A-Section police station. Similarly, Abdul Wajid, son of Gul Muhammad Soomro, reported the theft of his 2022 model red motorcycle (SNE-3903) from the same area, filed as FIR No. 187/2025.

Citizens and businessmen claim that Sukkur police are only active on paper, while the real situation on the ground continues to worsen. Criminals are not being caught, and citizens do not feel safe. The Zaiqa Biryani theft video has gone viral on social media, where the public is heavily criticizing the police.

They have demanded that senior authorities take notice of the crime wave. Citizens warn that if the police continue to remain mere spectators, public trust in institutions will be completely lost. In a major city like Sukkur, the unabated rise in crime and the police’s silence is not only alarming but also indicates that criminals no longer fear the law.

It is now essential that the police change their attitude, take strong measures to control crime, and provide security to the public, or this situation could lead to a major crisis.
