Sukkur : Members of the Nouh Poto community from Thari Mirwah, Khairpur district, staged a protest outside the Sukkur Press Club against alleged mistreatment, violence, and injustice by their daughter’s in-laws. The protesters called on the authorities to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, ensure a transparent inquiry into the alleged case registered against them, and provide them with justice and protection.

Those participating in the protest included Abdul Shakoor Nouh Poto, Arif Ali Khaki, Naeem Sathar, Hafiz Ayaz Mallah, Saddam Solangi, and others. The protesters held placards and appealed to the relevant authorities to take notice of what they described as alleged ظلم and mistreatment.

Speaking to the media, Abdul Shakoor Nouh Poto and other protesters said that some time ago, their sister, Ms. Zakia, daughter of Shafi Muhammad Nouh Poto, had left home and contracted a court marriage of her own choice with Adnan, son of Imamuddin Soomro.

According to the protesters, approximately 11 months after the marriage, Zakia contacted her mother and allegedly said that she was facing difficulties at her in-laws’ home and asked her family to take her back home.

The protesters said that following the contact, Zakia’s father, Shafi Muhammad Nouh Poto, met his son-in-law Adnan, son of Imamuddin Soomro, and the matter was allegedly settled amicably. However, when Shafi Muhammad Nouh Poto later arrived to take his daughter Zakia home, Imamuddin Soomro and some other individuals allegedly attacked him, leaving him seriously injured.

Abdul Shakoor Nouh Poto further alleged that Wadero Zulfiqar Soomro played a role in the alleged attack and subsequently had a case registered against Zakia’s father, Shafi Muhammad, and several others, which the protesters described as baseless and an attempt to complicate the matter.
