Dubai — Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has revealed the reason behind his unique “gunshot” celebration after scoring a half-century against India in the Asia Cup Super Four stage.

Farhan, who scored 58 runs in Sunday’s high-voltage clash, celebrated his fifty with a gunshot-style gesture that sparked anger among Indian players and fans. Addressing a press conference after the match, Farhan clarified that he usually does not celebrate fifties, but the idea came to his mind in the moment, so he decided to try something new.

“It was just a new way of celebrating after my fifty. I don’t care what people interpret it as. My focus is on playing aggressive cricket, even if the opponent is India,” he said.

Farhan added that his confidence had grown after his performance against India, though he wished his innings had directly contributed to Pakistan’s victory. He expressed optimism about Pakistan’s chances in the tournament:

• “We are fully prepared for the match against Sri Lanka,” he said.
• “I hope we face India again in the final. Winning the Asia Cup final will be our ultimate goal.”

He also noted that recent changes in the batting order had given players more confidence: “The adjustments have helped the batters, and even young players like Saim Ayub are gaining self-belief.”

Despite Farhan’s fifty, Pakistan suffered a setback as India won the Super Four match by six wickets. Pakistan will play their next match against Sri Lanka tomorrow, a must-win game that will decide their path to the final.
