Field Marshal Asim Munir held a significant meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, where discussions covered trade, energy, and the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

According to ISPR, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met President Trump at the White House. The meeting was attended by U.S. Secretary of State Senator Marco Rubio, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle Eastern Affairs Steve Whitkoff, and Pakistan’s National Security Advisors.

The high-level meeting took place over lunch in the Cabinet Room, followed by a visit to the Oval Office. ISPR reported that the Field Marshal conveyed gratitude on behalf of Pakistan and its people to President Trump. He also praised Trump’s leadership in addressing global and UN-level challenges.

The discussions included bilateral cooperation in several sectors such as trade, minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency. President Trump expressed interest in a long-term, strategic trade partnership based on mutual interests with Pakistan.

The two leaders also held detailed talks on the escalating Iran-Israel tensions and jointly emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

ISPR stated that the scheduled one-hour meeting extended beyond two hours. President Trump praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and decisive role amid complex regional conditions. In return, Field Marshal Munir extended an invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan at an appropriate time on behalf of the Pakistani government.

ISPR called the meeting a key milestone in efforts to strengthen the longstanding Pakistan-U.S. partnership.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, President Trump said, “It was an honor to meet Field Marshal Asim Munir today. I invited him to thank him for helping to prevent war with India. We also discussed the Iran issue.”

Trump added that trade talks with Pakistan are ongoing and acknowledged that both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers. “We are grateful to Field Marshal Asim Munir for not taking a path toward war,” he said. The U.S. President also noted that Pakistan understands Iran better than many others and is not pleased with the current situation.
