On the day when former federal minister and National People’s Party chairman Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi and provincial president Masroor Khan Jatoi

were scheduled to appear for the hearing of two cases in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), extremely strict security measures were taken in the city of Naushahro Feroze.

Late at night, hundreds of police personnel from the districts of Sanghar, Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, and Dadu were deployed at the entry and exit points of the city. All roads leading to the ATC court were completely sealed, including roads where the civil hospital, private medical centers, and medical stores are located.

Under the pretext of security, police officers not only turned people back from these routes but also did not allow patients to go to hospitals even in emergency situations. Many patients were left writhing in pain in ambulances and private vehicles, while several medical stores were forcibly shut down.

A curfew-like situation prevailed in the city from 7 AM and lasted for about five hours. Due to the security situation, the judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court rescheduled the hearings of both cases. The new date for one case is set for June 28, and for the other, July 6.

The residents of the city expressed strong resentment, stating that this was state extremism, where ordinary people—especially patients—became victims of political power games. Citizens said the rulers have no concern for their suffering, and today will be remembered as the worst day in the administrative history of Naushahro Feroze.
