Canada Announces Intensified Efforts for Two-State Solution in Palestine

Ottawa: In a significant diplomatic development, Canada has announced plans to accelerate its efforts in supporting a two-state solution to the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Mark Carney, who emphasized the urgent need for lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, particularly in the war-torn Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

In his official statement, Prime Minister Carney reiterated Canada’s commitment to a peaceful resolution based on the coexistence of two independent states—Israel and Palestine—living side by side within secure and recognized borders. He further asserted that Canada will raise its voice on international platforms, including the upcoming United Nations conference, where the country will push for renewed diplomatic efforts and consensus-building among global powers.

Call for Israel to Respect Territorial Boundaries

Highlighting the deteriorating situation in Gaza, Carney urged Israel to respect the territorial integrity of Palestinian lands, including Gaza and the West Bank, as recognized by international law. He warned that continued military operations, settlement expansion, and humanitarian blockades are pushing the region toward a deeper humanitarian and political crisis.

“The survival and dignity of the Palestinian people cannot be overlooked. Canada believes peace in the region is impossible without acknowledging the rights of both nations,” Carney said.

Condemnation of Israel’s Humanitarian Blockade

The Canadian leader condemned Israel’s alleged decision to block humanitarian aid, especially food supplies meant for malnourished children in Gaza. He called this act “unacceptable” and said that Canada will not remain silent on the worsening humanitarian disaster in the region.

“Preventing aid from reaching vulnerable civilians, particularly children, is a breach of humanitarian values and international norms,” Carney stated, calling on Israel to lift restrictions and allow international organizations unhindered access to deliver essential aid.

Canadian Support for UN-Led Peace Process

Carney announced that Canada will send high-level representatives to the UN peace summit next week, where global leaders will discuss pathways to implement the two-state solution. He emphasized the need for international consensus, accountability, and protection of civilians on both sides.

Diplomatic sources indicate that Canada may also propose a new humanitarian assistance package for Gaza and increase support for civil society organizations working in Palestinian territories.

Israel’s Move to Annex West Bank Sparks Outrage

Meanwhile, tensions have further escalated after the Israeli Parliament passed a controversial resolution approving annexation of additional territory in the West Bank, a move widely condemned by international human rights groups and several world governments.

Critics argue that this step not only violates international law but also threatens to derail any future negotiations for peace. The resolution has triggered protests in several Western capitals, including London, Paris, and Toronto.

Mass Protests in Tel Aviv

Back in Tel Aviv, thousands of Israelis took to the streets once again in protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Demonstrators are demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and uninterrupted humanitarian aid for Palestinians trapped in warzones.

Protesters carried placards reading “End the War,” “Bring Back Our Hostages,” and “Food is Not a Weapon.” Activists and former military officials also joined the protests, criticizing the government’s failure to reach a diplomatic resolution and its continued military strategy in Gaza.

International Pressure Mounting

With growing international pressure and criticism from allies like Canada, experts believe that Israel may face greater diplomatic isolation unless it reconsiders its current approach. Human rights groups have also urged urgent UN intervention to mediate a ceasefire and ensure the protection of civilians in both Gaza and Israel.
